Here is an excerpt from his website OpenMikeTalk.comwith more backstory:

I graduated from the University of Tennessee with visions of doing play-by-play for Tennessee football on radio. I got a chance to go into sports P.R. in college, which led to my first job out of college at the University of Texas.  I did a handful of women’s basketball games on radio and TV in 1984 and 1985. But I really did not do anything again until the early 2000s when I hosted NASCAR driver Fan Forums at DAYTONA USA, the motorsports attraction at Daytona International Speedway.  During race weeks, I would interview drivers and others in NASCAR in front of fans. I loved it.
Nothing happened until 2016 when I called a friend of mine from Daytona who now lives in Charlotte and we produced about 13 podcasts with NASCAR’s historian Buzz McKim.  We had good ideas, unfortunately it never took off, but the bug remained. Through BNI (which is Business Networking International, the world’s largest networking organization), I met a bunch of successful small business owners with great stories.  I wanted to do a radio show where I interviewed these successful people because I love asking questions. I went to a couple of the larger radio stations in town to try and get a Saturday or Sunday morning show. I didn’t have the money for a time buy, so I kept asking around.  A friend of mine Jim Bowdish, told me to talk to Amnon Nissan. Amnon has hosted his own computer show for years and eventually built out a studio in his own house. Amnon is a producer, I am not. And now we have done over 30 shows and we average 9,000 viewers/listeners a week.
